Dr. Ziad Saghir is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Ryerson University. He has been involved in research related to microgravity since 1987. He is currently involved in developing theoretical models capable of accurately estimating the molecular and the thermal diffusion coefficients for multi-component mixtures. Dr. Saghir has participated in various space missions, the latest is the experiment developed jointly with the European scientists from Belgium and France related to thermodiffusion. The successful mission of FOTON M3 (known as SCCO) led to the development of an accurate theoretical model for the binary mixtures. He is also involved in a research with the Belgian scientists on a new thermodiffusion experiment, using the SODI equipment.
